Just got an iMac. Turned it on for the first time and had sighted help so when
the set-up process for accounts and internet connection etc started it didn't
matter that I hadn't started VoiceOver.
When I did try to start it though I couldn't hear anything even though on the
screen it says
Hello. try I think it' sf10. I am on a laptop so dunno how similar the
keystrokes are.

Make sure vo is not muted by going to the vo utility and checking to see if the
mute is checked under speech tab.

She's on an Imic. Given that I have never seen the IMac keyboard I can't tell
her which ine it is but hopefully one of those will work. *smiles* If not I
