Hi, Folks. Followed the suggestion, and got VO to speak the welcome
message. Thanks to all who responded.

Actually mine doesn't either. It starts but it does not say what I have it to
say which in my case was, "welcome to mac os 10, you are now asimulated,
resistence is futile." No really. that is what i turned it in to lol! I do
have the check box check under the speach tab under vo utility.
