Hi Josh
Some people, myself included, prefer the Skim interface. Skim has long been
more compatible than Preview with a lot of types of PDF documents and quite a
lot of long-time Mac users just prefer to use that application.
Kind regards

Hi James,
Can you provide some details of the problems you are having with Skim? I did a
quick run through of a couple PDFs using Skim 1.4.3 on my MBA running OS 10.8.4
and didn't encounter any major issues.
Cheers,
Bryan

Really. Hmm, I wonder why that would be? Well, no hard feelings, it was just

Hi John,
Thank you for that. I feel really dim for not trying that. Hopefully though the
problem with single page view can be fixed, as it can be useful.
Take care

that single page is not working as far as VO seems to not see the document.

I'd google it and try it. You all might like it.

Hi Josh,
Yes, the behavior with PDF documents is improved, although it is still not
the same as viewing them
Thanks Zack, I'll use Preview until such a time that Skim access is restored.

Hi,
While I cannot confirm the problems with Skim on 10.8.4, I can suggest that
Preview has much improved. I should clarify that it has not yet given us access
to all the elements of PDF files, such as tables and forms, but it's reading
experience now very closely matches what you would receive
No offense, but why would you need that if the compatibility in the native
reader has improved? Are there certain types of things that voiceover can still
not handle?

Hi all,
Since updating to 10.8.4, has anyone else noticed that PDFs no longer seem to
be readable in Skim?
Thanks
Take care

Hi Josh,
Yes, the behavior with PDF documents is improved, although it is still not the
same as viewing them on Windows. Nevertheless, you can get all the text from
them now without having to go through contortions. I trust that Apple will
release more substantial changes in 10.9.
Best,

Hi guys, in the release notes for OS 10.8.4, it states that there is improved
compatibility with PDF documents with voice over. I'm quite impressed by this,
but I'm wondering if anybody has actually had experience with it, and if this
is actually as it states. Thank you.
