I think you can do this a lot easier than you describe below. You don’t need to
manually add music to the folder, it will be automatically copied there by
iTunes and sorted properly. If your music is, say, on an external drive, you
can go to the File->Add to Library menu item in iTunes, a

I am sorry, I don't know if I understand. Maybe I am making harder than what
it should be, but after I add my music to my music folder in the mac, do I
go to iTunes and go to file menu and arrow to add file to library. Then I go
to music folder and highlight the song and tab to open?

I just paste albums I want to add into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.
It works out very well.
On my computer it's under Music/iTunes/Automatically add ... or whatever that
folder is caled. Works out pretty well.

If you use the Open item from the file menu, you can select individual songs or
whole directories, which will be added and copied to the library. This is a
little easier than adding stuff to the Music folder yourself, as iTUnes
generally tries to keep that organized on its own.
