and amazingly Anne I've clicked the link and it doesn't make a difference. One
thing I have noticed though is the mails which don't show the attachments all
have microsoft excel, powerpoint (etc) attachments, and all come from one user
who is using snow leopard.

Hello Dónal,
OK, I've fixed my problem. I had to click on the Details link and now the Save
button shows up on all my messages with attachments.
I did the reset to defaults for Java Preferences to no effect.
Cheers,
Anne

Hello Bryan,
No I hadn't thought of the "custom" option, excellent idea.
Looking around the net there seems to be quite a few with this issue.
Apparently, resetting java prefs to factory defaults solves it, though I've no
idea why. I'll check in the morning on the iMac.
I'll also try your id
Hi Donal & Anne, -- I've also got some gripes about ML Mail, but am fortunate
enough not to be experiencing the attachment issue you mention. My headers are
set to default and I'm running 10.8.2. VO does announce my attachments as
"embedded" but I also have the "Save" and "Quick Look" buttons in
Hi sarah,
I don't think the CMD-shift-h has anything to do with the attachments. That

To show the headers the command is cmd shift h. then renavagate to the headers
section and the attachments are right there in a pop up menu labeled save. It

Hi Anne,
I'll have to check but the odd thing is that on two of my machines running ML
the button is gone in the headers. However on the good old macbook pro it's
still there. So on the MBP I can still go to the header, go to the end and
either "quick look" or save the attachments.
Not a fan
Hello Dónal,
Are you seeing your attachments as embedded files in the body of the message?
This is what I'm finding in ML and the menu button in the headers seems to have
gone.
This is just another thing I don't like about Mail in ML. The other major
irritation is that replies to messages are
Hi all,
Just returning to this one if I may. It seems that none of my messages
containing attachments are displaying them correctly. If I know (from the
text) for example that the attachment is present I can use cmd-y and get at it
that way. The indicator is also showing correctly in the mes
