MacGroup: scanner problems

I have a HP 3570c scanner that I have used for several months ... no problems. This week I upgraded my OS from 10.2.8 to 10.3.9. Now my eMac does not recognize the scanner even though it shows up in the system profile under USB devices. I went to HP's support page for help but found nothing.
