Shouldn't really impact anybody, but interestingly the new iTunes 4.8
apparently changes the file names that it writes into the iPod:

The theory is that this might make directory look-ups more efficient
since the new file names are now all exactly the same length (four
characters).  But it also makes sharing your tunes off the iPod a whole
lot more difficult.  That's probably the real motivation, the
anti-piracy aspect.
