Bill -- I also have a Palm. It's a Tungsten T3 that I purchased refurbished from Overstock.com. I sync it to my G4 Powerbook with bluetooth, although I can also use a USB cable. I've had it for over a year and have had no problems. This model might be a little more than you're looking for,

Your preferences match my own. I use a Palm m500, which meets your specs, has 8mb RAM, more than enuf unless you put books or pictures into it, and does not have color, MP3, camera or fone. Expect to spend $55+/- including postage. I have an extra cradle, if you find one cheap without a cradle.

Palms start at 99 dollars now. The Z22 is the low end. It has a color screen and has 32Mb of memory. It is pretty basic, but should be perfect for what your wife wants to do. A plus is that she can sync wirelessly with the Pismo if it has an IR port. BTW, does the Pismo have USB ports? I do
