You cannot make a grid. Desktops are defined in sequential order from left to
right. I don’t know
Is there a way to turn off the cute elastic bumper effect at scrolling
limits? It's only a minor annoyance, but I would prefer not to have it.

Currently I'm running an updated/patched version of Apache from Macports. Its
logs are in /opt/local/apache2/logs. Console.app is hard-coded to look for
Apache log files in the default location /var/log/apache2. Can I somehow make

Why don't you just soft-link /opt/local/apache2/logs to /var/log/apache2 ?
Assuming you're not running the standard Apache, so you won't get file-name
collisions from two active servers.
