I have the same issues, while installing sqlite3.
The problem seems to be that the Makefile is not written correctly (the NAWK
variable is not assigned any value).
I have tried to compile manually
./configure
make
and then resume the installation with
port install sqlite
the installation went

I installed mysql5 using ports using the following command
#port install mysql5 +server
#/opt/local/bin/mysql_install_db5
now when I try to start mysql I get the following error.
CodeShed:var root# /opt/local/share/mysql5/mysql/mysql.server start

Libelf has been updated according to ticket 14955. This ticket
includes libelf-Portfile.2.diff which fixes the problem as it relates
to libelf. The libelf port is ready to have that diff committed.
Ticket 14955 should remain open, however, as it also requests a patch
be made to ghc.
