macports error reporting, stack traces

Should we add the typical steps for producing debug error logs to the output of the standard trace during a failure? There are often tickets where people simply place the standard output and not the debug output. Would supplying the steps to do this directly in the standard reporting help

HDF5 1.6.10 and HDF5 1.8.4 are currently in prerelease. HDF5 1.6.10 is the last release of the 1.6.x series. HDF5 1.8.x can also be compiled in 1.6.x compatibility mode, but this shouldn’t be done by default. I think it’s hard to make a case for the hdf5_select approach you suggest. First,

I have no way of testing this empirically any longer. I am on 1.8+ on all machines now. `port info portname`, `port search pattern`, and especially, though seemingly not all the time, `port installed` take a lot longer to run than they used to under 1.7. (Feels that way at least) The one
