The committer of the mercurial port, deric, has not responded to ticket
#23958, filed 2 weeks ago. Per the port update policies, would a
committer please apply the patch included with that ticket?

I don't think we need to declare an official policy. :P
Bottom replying is preferable in general, but switching from one to the
other mid-thread is what you really want to avoid.
