I was installing a port with dependencies on dbus & policykit using the
flags -vd. dbus was failing with:
Error: org.macports.install for port dbus return

Here's a crazy idea that occurred to me. Would it be feasible or make
sense to make the notes section of Portfiles directly accessible via a link
on the trace webpage with an html tag? In other words, the link would take

There may be a path problem. Always check the system.log for this type of
thing. 'tail /var/log/system.log'. I pasted your startupitem information
into the current jetty portfile and I saw this in the system.log after
running launchctl:

and it works fine.

and I see the binary is set to look for php.ini in /opt/local/etc, but
strangely I never set this and php5 works fine for me. How does it find
the wonky mysqld.sock location? And should I be using one of the provided
php.ini's?

I believe I had to create a wordpress account for myself after the
trac/wordpress merge. You might try creating a wp account with the same
name/pass and see if that fixes it. To create a ticket, you need to get
to here and click on "View Tickets", then you'll see a "Create Ticket"
link.
