Here you go. This is just an example I picked up from a tutorial site.
The same thing happens on all the documentation for mercurial. That is
where I first ran into the problem was trying to build mercurial from
source.
This happens on two different installations of macports for me, so I think
ok, i fixed the problem:
i just created
/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_devel_readline/work/destroot/opt/local/share/info/dir
this directory was missing

Ok, i will try this when i am at home today evening. I synced about 2 weeks
ago and made a selfupdate about 2 weeks ago. Update Frequency seems to be
very high :)
