OK. The reason I was using the "-w" is because disabled was set to "true" in the plist. However, it wasn't working, as disabled is still set to true. regardless of "-w" I can only assume that it wasn't working because I wasn't using sudo and don't have permission to write to that file as myself?

Geesh, I see that now. Didn't realize what directory it was complaining about. I cleaned up a lot of that /usr/local/ stuff (still need some of it), and renamed the directory temporarily just in case, and completely re-installed macports from scratch. I think proceeded to re-install gnucash. Ha
