Hi!
The current MacPorts install for WordPress is for v2.8.4. v3 of
WordPress was made available in mid-June, and currently they're at
3.0.1.
I am wondering:
Can I use the MacPorts install for WordPress v2.8.4, and then use
their automatic updater to bring the installation up to the current

I installed macports just today on OS X 10.6.4. I've set:
build_arch i386
universal_archs i386 ppc
in macports.conf since I need Intel and PPC 32-bit univeral binaries. Then:
port selfupdate
port install libsdl +no_x11 +universal
port install libsdl_mixer +universal -mikmod
the http may or may not be a requirement of the school's chosen proxy
solution. Try both...one way will work. Also .. type 'env' outside of
macport and make sure you don't have any *_proxy variables set, as they will
conflict with the macports.conf setting.

Yes, I have removed the #.
and I put the proxy URL in the form :
# HTTP proxy:
proxy_httpproxy.uni.ac.uk:8080
with no http:// is that correct?
cheers

Hi Ryan & Jeff
Thanks for the help.
I have tried editing the macports.conf but it doesn't seem to make
any difference... still get failed to fetch with 407 error
The proxy is also set in system preferences and I have tried the
macports.conf with
#proxy_override_envyes
both enable
