are using launchd. Setting DISPLAY
will screw things up!
Once you have a xterm you can get the DIISPLAY out of it and pass that
on. From the Terminal I started a couple of
xterms and a

Okay. I ran an X11 terminal instead of a regular command prompt from the Mac
Finer, and that spawned xboard and xterm just fine. Now I just need to figure
out how to hook that into gnuchess.
If anyone knows how I might be setting my DISPLAY etc, it's probably a good
thing for me to know in the
Hi Keith,
Thanks for the help. The only environment var I see is PATH in ~/.profile:

Thanks for the summary Thibaut. The permissions for ~/Library/

I can't get an xterm to show on up my screen. I think my environment may be
messed up, but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. Or maybe ports missed a
dependency.
Here's my system info.

Hi,
I've installed kile-devel via a freshly selfupdated MacPorts 1.9.2 on
Mac OS 10.6.5. Together with other KDE 4 applications it depends on,
kile now sits in
/Applications/MacPorts/KDE4/ .
When I start kile from Finder, nothing happens -- CPU usage doesn't
even increase.

Ugh. The whole unversioned distfile situation seems awkward, to say
the least. Would it be better if macports were to automatically fall
back to the distfiles mirror whenever there is a checksum mismatch?
