"port contents foo" will tell you what a port called foo installed. Programs
you run on the command line are typically installed in the bin directo

This was fixed very recently. Do ano
Hello:
When xorg-libxcf tries to download the needed files, it hangs on the following
file, which appears to only be hosted at macports given the sites it tried to
contact.
0001-Bump-xcb-proto-requirement.patch
Do you have any thoughts on the matter?
Kind regards,
Anthony

Hi, all.
I've got a version of Ruby (1.8.7) installed via Mac Ports which is
still in use because when I installed Vim, again via Mac Ports, it was
used for the interpreter.
For some while now I've used rvm installed in $HOME to manage my Ruby
stuff

It appears you did run the correct thing.

Probably not a bad insta
Thanks for all the responses. Running "port contents py27-spyder"
returns several hundred different items. But I think the most relevant
are the last two:
...
/opt/local/bin/spyder
/opt/local/bin/spyder-2.7
These are aliases that both both point to the same file:
/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/

Hi, I've a problem running 'port upgrade outdated' on my intel mac (10.7.3)
(Xcode 4.3)
Has anyone experienced this problem? Do I need to reinstall macports?
clivesmac:~ cliveriches$ sudo port upgrade outdated
---> Computing dependencies for ncurses
---> Configuring ncurses
Error: Target org.m
Use Terminal.
I wrote an applescript that does this and saved it as an app, placing it on my
dock.
I don't have access to my MacBook at the moment. Let me know, and I can forward
it to you this evening.

Hi,
I have what is hopefully a stupid and therefore easy question. I've
installed the py-spyder port. The installation of the program and all
its dependencies completed successfully. The install added several
new things to Launcher, including a folder called MacPorts(other), but
nothing that I can
