Hi,
I'm a bit of a newbie to mac ports. I just installed it today in an attempt to
install mesa. However, I'm getting an error at compile time. I was hoping
someone might help me with a workaround if one exists.
The command line I'm providing
sudo port -v install mesa +iglx

Yes, these steps worked:
sudo port clean gcc44
sudo port selfupdate
sudo port upgrade outdated
sudo port install gcc44
I was then able to install py27-scipy.

It looks like the scipy dependencies assumes that macports needs to
build a fortran compiler from source.

That pretty much describes it.
Literally PL/R allows the R interpreter to run inside a Postgres backend

I've never seen such a location for the R include files. I think your idea of
symlinks is the easiest one. You could also check/fix output of pkg-config

Of course, this assumes one works primarily from the command line.

When trying to install the "mpfr" port, macports seems to incorrectly

I recommend installing amavisd and ClamAV to go along with this. If
you Google this, you'll likely find a number of guides you can use
for this setup.
