While trying to upgrade gcc47 (from 4.7.2 to 4.7.3) I ran into a problem
when port was trying to install ld64. (Error message below.) In particular
it could not find the file "llvm-c/lto.h", even though I was able to
confirm it existed in /opt/local/libexec/llvm-3.2/include/llvm-c/lto.h.

Under /opt/local/etc/macports I have both a macports.conf and
macports.conf.default file. The first seems to be from 2010 and the
latter from today. I guess the port command should be reading the
newer, but the documentation on the web (and using 'man port' and 'man
macports.conf') says that macpor

Yes, it has has always worked fine for me in every previous OS
version. It just seems to be Lion that's the problem.

I apologize for raising an issue that is not specific to macports, but
Google hasn't provided me an answer. In any case, after upgrading my
system to Lion I find that I can no longer save to symbolic links to a
directory in standard Mac GUI applications. So, for instance, I might
have dir_orig as a

I was just checking out the dovecot howto on the wiki page, which is
very nice. Many thanks to the author! In any case, the link to
dovecot.conf (under Step4) does not seem to be working. It just leads
to a blank web page. It would be nice to have that page!

I seem to be having a problem with port not reading my
~/.macports/macports.conf. Specifically, this macports.conf
file is identical to the one in /opt/local/etc/macports except with
the line "binpath
/usr/texbin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin"

When trying to build gcc42 on a powerpc G5 I get the error below. I
looked in the mail archives and saw that, at least on Intel, the
binutils port causes gcc42 build failures. I do not have the binutils
port installed. I also tried using build.args='-j 1', but without
luck. If there isn't a known
