I am running a fresh install. I have searched through the mails and
havent seen this (though maybe i missed it!).
I using leopard, got the dmg MacPorts-1.5.0-10.5.dmg and ran the installer.
It seems to hang about 70-80% of the way through. Is this a known issue?
1.8GHz PowerPC G5.

Im reading the instructions from the wiki for installing X11.. i have my tiger
dvd in and i dont seem to see a package named Additional Software to install
X11... i searched the dvd and dont see it... is it called something different?

I dont understand your answer about gmail being POP... sylpheed
supports POP3. I have setup gmail on Apple mail and thunderbird with
no problems.
As I said I can set it up fine with no problems, I just cant send any
mail from sylpheed using my gmail account...

Due to a number of problems im having (with dependencies and so on)
Id like to start afresh with my ports...
I dont have many, really only needing apache/php/mysql... how would i
start over? I assume removing /opt is a bad idea?
Any suggestions?
