I'm thinking of installing Gnumeric but I'm suspicious that some of the dependencies will cause a huge expansion of my installation, i.e., take up lots of disk space. I already have some of the dependencies but I do not have things like desktop-file-utils, gnome-common, gnome-doc-util

I'd already followed the port notes dbus without any luck, it starts on startup now. startx fails for me with the same Operation not permitted IPC error. gnome-terminal doesn't output anything and I don't get a gnome-terminal. I haven't figured out how to get gdm to run. A

Hi Ryan, I know that the system should set it. Yet, during the initialization of X, in the environment the of the startup scripts it is already set to DISPLAY:0 this is causing problems when you try to start another window manager. We the one from the system.
