Hi Ryan,

I used to do a lot builds and packaging of GNU and other free software in Sun
Solaris (SPARC/UltraSPARC hosts mostly) for the company I worked for, so I am
used to this kind

Hello
Well, I guess there are more processes involved, I'm just suggesting that maybe
you may find
differences of priorites in the process group with the respective Os's. And
this is without knowing exactly what kind of information htop disclosures about
the underlying processes.
I guess the
Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your note. I am looking into bootstrapping GCC 4.5.2 using GCC from
MacPorts first, then I will build the entire tool chain, and then I will make
another attempt. I will also avoid building the universal variant, which IMHO
complicates things.
I am sure Etherape developer(

Hello.
One reason for the differences might be that the processes are given different
priorities under
the two OS's. It may not be so, but I would have looked at the priorites of the
two.

Ryan,
Thanks for responding and the quick port update for etherape to 0.9.10.
Appreciated!
I downloaded your port, and tested it side by side with my own build. Their
behavior is the same. Two visible differences:
Neither are quick in responding to network events as their counterpart running

I made a small progress. I decided to download the latest stable
etherape-0.9.10 source and build it myself, using libraries that were built
when I was trying out the macports version.
Once I sudo myself into root, I performed the following. Now I can see IP
addresses, but still not node cicle
Hi Tommy,
Thanks for your response. As I stated in my post, wireshark 1.4.4 works well
for me, but Etherape doesn't. My problems are with Etherape, not with
wireshark :-)

Hello.
I just installed Wireshark version 1.4.0 and can't remember doing anything but
installed it.
