I recently installed the complete gnome package from macports on my system.
When I try to start gnome-session I get the dreaded 'operation not permitted'
message.

Here's what I get when I try 'startx' in Termina.app:-
>>>>

I found a lot of (old) errors concerning this kind of prblem on Google, but
nothing promising a resolution; Has there been any progress with this problem?

I don't know how relevant this is, but when installing gnome, the following
error was reported when installing dbus--

error:activate Target org.macports.activate returned: Image error:
/Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist already exists and
does not belong to a registered port. Unable to activate port dbus. Use 'port
-f activate dbus' to force the activation.

In order to get over this, I ran the force in 'sudo' - was this correct, or
should I have just done it locally? There is a dbus daemon running on my system
as root

   73 ?? 0:00.01 /opt/local/bin/dbus-daemon --system --nofork

Is this something I should attempt to recover from, and if so, how?

TIA

Regards, Andy
