I have the identical problem (on the same machine). I haven´t had
much time to investigate further, but maybe testing without
mactel patches and then posting to the ndiswrapper list might
shed some light on this.

Hi Vincent,
Sounds like a bug report to me :)
Suggestions? Why not downgrade to 2.6.17 and lick your wounds while
developers find what's amiss?
YMMV but I've found 2.6.17.13 to be the most stable of kernels
supporting Apple hardware
They don't call it the bleeding edge for nothin'! :)

I have been trying get ndiswrapper working with kernel 2.6.19 with the
current (as of this evening) mactel patches installed on a core 2 duo
MacBook Pro. I get instant kernel panics when I load the driver. I
can't seem to change this at all, no matter if I use Gentoo portage or
compile it my

Hello, Mactel Users!
I'm currently running Debian Etch with 2.6.18 + Mactel Patches (have
been running the official Debian Kernels before) and it seems like
poweroff never worked on my MacBook.
Whenever i shut down my MacBook, the display gets black (backlight
stays on) and i can still hear the f

Another thing for Ubuntu 6.10 ist that i had to edit
/usr/sbin/laptop-detect and put exit 0 at the beginning.

#!/bin/sh -e

if test -d /proc/pmu; then
batteries=$(grep Battery /proc/pmu/info| cut -f2 -d:)
if test "$batteries" -ne 0; then

I got the same problem using the 2.6.18 kernel, then we discovered that
was because of the piix kernel module that is needed to use CDROM.
Disabling piix allowed me to sleep.
Now in 2.6.19 for what I can understand, there is a sort of unique
driver for PIIX ide and sata. (someone confirms ?)
So I
there is no ubuntu package for 2.6.19 in edgy.
I guess he compiled by himself.
gimli:
It would be interesting to have your kernel config and know wich patch
you applied.

i know the problem with the pata piix driver.
my 2.6.18.2 kernel is running fine.
in 2.6.19 there are 3 config options for piix.
one for sata (enabled), one for pata and an
old one for pata (both disabled).
pm-debug doesnt give me any extra messages :-(

Hello All
the following is an alternative to Ludovic Rousseau's
keyboard_brigthness shell-script (1).
Advantages:
- slightly shorter name
- allows toggle
- can be set SUID and bound to keyboard shortcuts via xbindkeys
Let me know what you think!

there is now a coretemp driver to access the temperature sensors in the
Intel Core CPUs. It was posted to the lm-sensors mailing list, I also
attached 2 patches that work for me with 2.6.18 and 2.6.19-rc6.

Tino
