How recent? I have a mactel patched 2.6.20, and I have to re-bind the
touchpad for it to work *correctly*.

Your problem is probably that the USB HID kernel driver is binding the
touchpad before the appletouch driver can. Since all of my drivers are
compiled in (not modules), I had to add this to my bootup scripts to
make it work:
echo "Attempting to ensure Synaptics driver will work..."

I've been trying to figure out how much battery time I can squeeze out
of my MBP. I know that I can't expect (right now) to get the same
runtime as OSX, but I think I should be getting more than I am.
When I run my machine with no underclocking, I get around 1.5 hours
out of it (kinda sucky). When
I have had quite a bit of success as well. When the MBP first came
out, I had to compile the kernel and copy it into the HFS+ partition
(for EFI booting) multiple times. I have yet to corrupt my
filesystems, but I haven't put it through much of a stress test.
OSX does support a "Unix" filesystem (
Success! I have managed to get everything working, and working quite
well. The ATI driver will freak-out if you switch display modes or
restart the X server while UNDER-clocking, but other than that I have
the display drivers working just fine.
The problem was primarily with Slackware 11 running X

I've been trying to upgrade my MBP from Slackware 10.2 to Slackware
11. Most of the hardware has been much easier to configure this go
around, but the display has been giving me major headaches. In
Slackware 10.2, which runs xorg6.8, I was able to run dual-screen with

What version of xorg are you running? I've been fighting with xorg 6.9
for a couple of days now, and I simply cannot get the ATI drivers
(latest, 8.34.2 I believe) to work. I am running a patched 2.6.20
kernel, and fglrx.ko loads with no problems. I'm getting an error in
the xorg log saying that th
I'd be interested to know what essential MacBook Pro features are not a part
of the current unpatched release kernel. I'm still running one of the
relatively early MBP patch sets (2.6.16 or 17) at work, and I'd like to
upgrade to a newer setup. If at all possible, I would like to run an
