This will sound strange, but I got it to work. If one knows where the f5 key is
on the touch bar, pressing fn (the key in the lower left corner) command, f5
will start and stop voiceover on the new macbook with touch bar.
Kind regards,

Hi Simon,
I tried using Siri to turn on VO in the app store, but it didn't work. Now
mind you, I was there the day before Christmas, so it may well have been that
the environment was too noisy, so my experience should not be considered
conclusive.
Cheers,
Donna

Hi Donna,
Yeah I just thought though that may be using sirii might bee away to get
around the new VO command,
Just ask siri to turn vo on?
I wonder if it will work?
It does on the IOS devices if they have Siri enabled.
As for recovery mode, I use it a lot for machines I’m dealing with at
OK, so, that way does! work? OK, wieu! That had me a little worried.

HI Ray, so most modern headsets have a firmware component and a settings
component. You install one form of updater or another, plantronics uses the
headset updater, the jawbone uses the jawbone update tool and so forth. It’s
very likely your manufacturer has a set of tools or both updating
Hi,
Not sure about your iphone problem, but I do have a pair of headphones
that work with my imac with bone exception. VLC sounds very distored
but itunes is fine. This is only with the bluetooth headset. If I use
wired vheads, the problem is fine. I am using the latesed searia update.
I would have thought the Desktop offerings were more expensive than the
portable offerings??

Hi. I was disappointed with Apple not refreshing the Mac Mini line. I might
have to go back to Windows if it isn’t refreshed next year because I can’t
afford the Apple laptops.

Hi,
At the moment, attaching a USB keyboard is the only way to turn on VoiceOver
when in the recovery partition.

Hi Simon,
I didn't get to spend a ton of time in the store, but my sense is that there
will be a learning curve with the touch bar. Maybe not so much a learning
curve as a significant adjustment period. :)
In the seven and a half years I've used the Mac, I've never needed recovery
mode, so I
What if you use an extended keyboard?
That way you’d have the command f5 keys to press.

It didn’t work for me today on a machine in a store,
It could have been that the volume was down but couldn’t tell because the
function keys aren’t there anymore
It’s weird stuff but keen to get my hands on one.

There's no way to accomplish that at the moment on the new MacBook Pros. Apple
is working on this issue. At least that's what they told me.
