Hi, Some of that can depend on drive speed as the system is determining the number of files and folders, and calculating size. If that's not the case, go into VO Utility, and make sure that the mouse cursor ignores the VO cursor in the Navigation category. That may stop the refreshing

Hi, If that is just the Documents folder, then that is a huge amount of storage used for documents. I suggest you get to your Desktop, then press cmd-shift-h to open the Home directory. For each of the folders visible in that directory, do a cmd-i to Get Info and note the size of each.
