Jonathan, I finally gave up with TextEdit.What I ended up doing is this; Opened the text file in pages. The symbols all converted to their proper characters (“, 1/4, 1/2). I then exported as a text file. Opened in text edit again, and all is well. I could not find any way to change the

Jonathan, I suspect that the first one is a fraction 1/2 and I think the omega symbol is a fraction 1/4. I would have to go back and look at the original file. But again, I don’t know how changing the N coding is supposed to change the actual files so that it shows up correctly the next time I
