Try this as an alternative.
After opening the contact you would like to delete and selecting the Edit
button, place your finger on the row of buttons along the bottom of the screen,
and swipe left until you get to the Delete Contact button, and then do a one
finger double tap to delete t
I suspect I will not bother with this. :) Maybe at some point I will
actually find a need to do it.

I ask as I’ve tried with four on one hand and I can’t get all four to sit flat
