The command-return will do this you are interacting with text. Unfortunately,
at least with older MacOS, one could not bridge a span of text using this.
1. Start interacting until VoiceOver says interact with text.
2. Move to start location.
3. press VO-return. VO says select.
4. Move to end loc

The Search box is at the far right of the toolbar, and the command to get there
after interacting is VO + END.
That’s what happens when I type stuff in a hurry, and don’t proof read.
I agree that VO + F, should go to the Search box, but the original poster said

For the first thing, can you adjust Braille verbosity? Perhaps in a activity
aimed at the mail app if you want table information in other applications.

Actually, I don't think you're right. At some point, when I was trying to sort
this out, I heard VO say something about a stack in relation to the January
item. And when I deleted January, all my desktop items disappeared except
Macintosh HD.

Sounds like you somehow created an alias for FaceTime. You shouldn’t have any
issues deleting it from your Desktop.
