You'll run into the same situation if you try to set up a new Mac for the first time. You won't be able to do anything until you connect either a mouse or trackpad to the Mac. Once you get it set up, you can get rid of the mouse or trackpad, but you've got to have it to get the thing going the

Try connecting a mouse or trackpad. Even though you don't need one, I believe the Mac will require it. I recently set up a new 24 inch M1 iMac for someone, and the computer wouldn't do a thing until I connected a mouse to it. Once you get through the initial set up, you can get rid of the mouse
