I’ve been using a Mac for a long time, and I don’t see how an older version of the Mac’s Mail app could be causing this issue. I would expect that a MacBook from 2011 should have been updated to at least High Sierra (macOS 10.13.x), so I would eliminate that as the cause of the issue, and look
