Dear Fellow Listers,

I am a PC user, and am thinking to switch over to Mac. I have been using PC for
over 25 years, and have no experience with Mac computers whatsoever. I am
totally blind, and hope that some of you will be willing to help me decide
whether to make the change.

I use JAWS for Windows version 12.01, Kurzweil 1000 version 12.4 for text to
speech scanning, and Duxbury Braille Translator Version 10.4 for braille
embossing.

First, does any one know if Kurzweil and Duxbury work with Macs? I know JAWS
won't.

Second, Does Voice Over work well with the following languages: Japanese,
Spanish and German? Can you switch between languages easily? For example, I am
trying to learn Japanese, but still need English, can Voice Over handle both of
these languages at the same time, and can one input in a word processing
document and have both languages read?

Third, Does Mac work with the following hardware products?: Epson 1660 flat-bed
scanner, HP Laserjet 1020 Printer, Sony DVD/CD disc Recorder, I forget which
model I have. I'd rather not have to purchase more peripherals if I don't have
to.

Many thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Carrie Green
