I just got a new 27 inch I Mac and loaded Windows 7 using Bootcamp. Can it be
upgraded to Windows 8? I heard that Narrator in Windows 8 is very good so I was
planning on giving it a try.
If Windows 8 is not an option, what do you recommend? Should I use NVDA? No
way do I want to shell out
Also, try picking up a used Mac for her. Small Dog Electronics in Burlington
Vermont offers discounted used Macs, but I would search locally, first. If she
has any usable vision and portability is not an issue, try an IMac instead.

Unfortunately there are no programs that are voice over accessible. If you have
low vision, your friend might be able to use Sibelius First, but you absolutely
have to have some usable vision.

Hi there Gigi,
The answer, as always, is maybe.
The Recognizer as always, looks for an Image that has been saved to your I
Phone. If you take a picture, and then try to find the same place, as long as
you are standing in the same place and aiming the phone at the same angle, it
should work.
If you have low vision, Sibelius is somewhat usable. My vision is not good
enough to use it effectively so I Have give up. You cannot even label buttons.
You can change the pitch of notes, so even if you cannot see the note, if
you're good enough to write music, you're probably good enough to

Unless the policy has changed, you will not be able to read NLS books on your
Mac. Each device, like the BookPort Plus and the Victor Reader Stream, must
have an authorization key to read NLS books. At this time, there is no key.

find the MacAlly keyboards on Amazon, and I believe Small Dog Electronics may
also stock this.

I didn't get a response to what's wrong with the extended keyboard my friend

What is the best extended keyboard out there, either wireless or usb, for the
blind mac user.
I personally like the bluetooth keyboard that came with my five year old I Mac.
