sometimes that happens to me too in other password fields. What I do is take
the mouse cursor to the vo cursor with command vo f5, then clic the mouse with
vo shift space, and then the edit field works.

the function keys often. Go to system prefs, keyboard, and there will be a
checkbox to use the f1, f2 keys etc for standard functions or something like
that. Check it, and the function keys will perform software act

if your function keys are set to perform software actions, like I think most
people who use voice over have them, press the fn key and f10 to mute/unmute
sound. If they are set for hardware actions, only f10.

you can't read the books using ibooks, currently the only app I know that works
is Inndaisy. To read them on the mac, in the folder you have of the book there
is a xml file, open that one and you will be able to read the book using safari.

I use Indaisy, it works fairly well. Sometimes it is difficult to get to some
specific part of the book because there are not many navigation options yet for

I don't know if this has to do with it, but I unzip my files using unarchiver,
a free software that unzips any kind of file. when I unzip the bookshare book
it does give me the prompt for the password.
and yes, you can open the xml file and you can read the book with safari.
