I don't have a bc640 so I am just guessing here but maybe it leaves
the bluetooth radio on even though it is supposed to be in USB mode
and the mac is just happening to grab the BT first. Try removing the
display from the bluetooth config then reattach it via USB.

A little follow up on the issue with my Brailliant. Apparently at some
point the device class that the Brailliant/Super Vario reports via
bluetooth changed from a computer to a generic device class (OS X
calls it unknown but the bluetooth specs call it any, as in generic)
