Actually the time out issue is on Apples’s end as it does it no matter what
your connected to. Android is much better and more forgiving when using it as a
hotspot.

By chance did you connect to zoom then connect the airpods? I haven’t done this
in a while but I had to connect the airpods first then launch the zoom meeting
and it worked fine.

headphones off and in the case it acts as a wake up to report the battery

Hi When the Airpod Max enter the deep sleep mode you know longer see the
battery indicator. It could also mean they are dead, but if it has been over
night and they are in the case more than likely this is what happened. To check
open the case and press the ANC button.
