Hi Mark
This works great IMO. Once you have the setting you want, you drag your finger
around the screen. So you don't swipe but just drag. If your setting is on word
then VO will only read out the word your finger is on. IF it is on Paragraph
then of course the whole paragraph will be read out
Hello Ioana,
I see. So, one cannot simply type away on the keyboard of the Macbook and then
use a single-finger swipe to navigate via sentence.
Now I understand how it works. Thank you ever so much.

HI,
It works for me in lion.
Here are the steps.
1. Open a text
2. touch trackpad
3. press command and you should hear the toggle from line sentence paragraph et.
4. Do not flick but rather move your finger around the trackpad. If words is
selected you will only hear the word your finger is on

Hi Mark,
Excuse me stating the obvious but, thats often what gets overlooked. lol.
Are you interacting
Hello,
This has nothing to do with trackpad gestures per say.
If you want to read all with VO without your keyboard, just enable the trackpad
commanders and do a two fingers flick down on the text area.
Cheers,

“In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.”
Please clarify for me what you did as it's never worked for me. This means you
just use the I phone gestures on the Mac and you do not need the key board to
get voice over to read all with vo A.
I am using Lion and turned anything to do with launch pad off.

Just tried and it works here.
Basically, once you change the setting, it affects what is read to you when you
move your finger on the trackpad.
The line mode will read a line at a time, the word mode will read a word at a
time and so forth.
I cannot find any use to this feature yet...

Hi Mark,
Excuse me stating the obvious but, thats often what gets overlooked. lol. Are
you interacting with the text? This will often tweek how navigation works I've
noticed in text edit. I don't have pages but, figure the same would apply.

Hello Colin and thank you for the reply.
As I stated in my original message, I can get the setting changed to sentence
but, afterwards, I cannot seem to navigate by sentence. So, once the setting
is set to Sentence, what gesture do you employ to navigate by sentences?

Hi there!
Well I can help here!
It is not clear but I found out by accident!
What you have to do is keep your finger on the track pad and tap the key up and
down to change the setting!
But the way most people think the instruction means is to hold the key down and
tap the track pad and then think
This has never worked for me Mark even in Snow lepard. Do not know if its a
bug or if I've been doing something wrong.
