It seems like this is an issue for users of multi im clients. When you
change your name you'll need to change it again the next time you sign
back in. Might be easier for your contact to rename you on their end.

That's not my issue. My issue is mainly when I change it, it doesn't always
update. This seems to be happening mainly for people using Windows Live
services. It's a weird behavior.

You can find this setting on the personal tab of adium preferences. Make sure
the second of the two radio buttons is checked, that will give you no icon I
believe, then type your name as you want others to see it.

I've had the same thing ever since I used adium over a year and a half ago.
Sometimes it updates right away, some times it doesn't.

I have a similar problem, but rather than it showing my e-mail address, it
displays my first name, which I believe it has gleaned from the registration
info I entered when I originally set up my mac.

If you don't change the setting for your icon for your Adium, it will also, by
default, seemingly use your picture for the account on your Mac. I accidentally
took a snapshot when I was setting up my Mac, and someone said that there was
an ugly bugger on their MSN list. ;). Mine did it by

my display name is now no longer Lynn, but is showing as
canepri...@hotmail.com, which is my MSN Messenger username. I don't remember
changing that, but how do I get it back to my correct display name again?
