Upon further investigation, what appears to be going on here is due to the
display sleep setting. So, in System Prefs, Energy Saver, there should be
sliders for both the computer and the display sleep settings. When the display
goes to sleep, whatever process is invoked must cause the
me thing on my mac book air.
If for instance I'm reading a pdf and step away for a minute the
"Authentication has new Window" comes up and blows away my position
where I was reading!
Half to do some digging!

type of element, but you can adjust the order of Name, Type State for elements.
