The USB 3 port is working great.
This SSD drive has made a big difference in my Mac.
Everything is much faster!
I used Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable Big Sur clone, then I had to 
boot into recovery to choose Big Sur SSD as the  startup drive.
Because as of now, Big Sur will not show the clone in the startup disk 
selection even though it is bootable. Carbon Copy Cloner 
Says that Apple is aware of the problem.
Then once I booted using the new SSD, I was able to select it as the startup 
disk in system preferences.
So far all is well.
