I recommend you learn the standard gestures for an iPhone without a Home button. With VoiceOver enabled, place your finger at the bottom of the screen, and you will hear a single pop. Now drag your finger up until you hear the second pop. This is the same as pressing the Home button once.

So, I’m thinking that if you feel you must have a Home button, you might try using the Back-Tap feature to simulate the Home button action. I really think that once you give the new gestures a chance, you will quickly become familiar with them, and you will forget about that Home button before
