You should be able to check battery status in the Menu Extras area. On my
MacBook Pro, a battery item was there by default.
When using macOS Catalina, and earlier versions of macOS, you can set a
VoiceOver Hotspot that you can use to read the battery status with a VoiceOver
keyboard

To go to the doc, use VO-d. A long time ago, someone created a script to check
battery status. That is what I use. I'll look around to see if I still have

No, you have to go to Library and then and then scripts and then VoiceOver.
Paste the file to the VoiceOver folder. It's not an app that goes in the app
folder.

You don't necessarily need to put them in that folder, but yes, that's the
idea. You unzip the folder, put *all* the scripts where you want them. You then
point VO to whichever you want. The Readme has more details, and I strongly
recommend you give it a look.

That's part of Talking Dashboard, but I'm not sure why Apple doesn't include it
by default. Download this file:

and unzip it. The Readme file should be enough to give you everything, but let
me know if you have questions.

Commanders can point to wherever you want, not just to scripts in your library
folder. So yes, you can dump the Talking Dashboard folder in there, as-is, or
you can copy all the files and paste them into your scripts folder if you like.
You could even put them in dropbox, so you always have

That's a new one, I've never heard of that. All I can suggest is a reset, and a
disk permissions repair if it still doesn't work. Also be sure you've unzipped
the zip file first, but I don't think you can avoid unzipping on the Mac like
you can on Windows.

command like you can in Jaws? I can check it through the extras menu but I was

option+B as a hotkey to read battery status. Other than that, there's nothing I

I don't have my 5th generation anymore, but from my memory, Unfortunately I
don't think there is with VoiceOver. The batter icon is up in the tiny status
bar at the top. if you *could* (questionable) check the status it would be in
settings, about, and come to think of it, voiceover doesn't
My hard drive needed to be replaced and now I'm using the Battery Menu to check
battery status. When I navigate to it, hours remaining is all over the place.
When it was fully charged, battery remaining showed at a little over 4 hours
which I thought was quite low. Then, at 94%, that number
the ammount of time remaining can change alot depending on wha tyou are doig at
the time for example I can get 7 hours when i fire up th emac and am not
doing anything but it settles down to a reasonable 5 hours after a littl ebit
it is based on current power consumption rates and such
When I started checking the battery, I was reviewing e-mail, I don't think I
had been on the internet, so the variation in the report threw me. Thanks for
the explanation, I'm glad it's not my system, as I've had enough issues to deal
with this month.
