Hi AZ,
I have my Mac Mini hooked up to a 19 inch Monitor using the "HDMI" cable which
carries both video and audio.
Seems to work fine. :)

The cheepest way is buying a speaker system like Philips HTL series.
If you connect your Apple-TV to your desktop you have to route the sound
to the Mac speaker.

come to think of that maybe the mac mini has a digital in connection.
So my question is if it should be possible to connect the apple tv optical
output to the digital in on my mac and make the tv speak through my mac.
