I would have to experiment to truly understand what this is doing today. Also,
I don't think this would resolve your initial question.
My understanding of the question is that you want to create MP3 files from a
standard CD and use these files in a program other than Apple Music on an IOS

Interesting. There’s nothing in the Media folder now, but I haven’t copied any
music CDs since getting this Mac. I’ll save your message and check the next
time I do.
Thanks for the info.

Hi Donna,
I dont want to confuse you.
If you have already copied the CD to your Mac, Then look in your user
folder\Music\Media\,
and you should find the MP3's ripped from the CD's.
Now you can just copy them to a new folder, such as iCloud Drive.
And dont use the Music app to play them beca
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for all this. It appears that CMD-C and V do not work.
I did find the setting Copy Files to Music Media Folder. Are you saying I
would want that unchecked? It seems like it would be the other way round.

Donna

Hello,
I no longer have a Big Sur system to play with, but one of the settings that
has always been around in iTunes/Music is:
checked Copy files to Music Media folder when adding to library
this setting shows up in "files" area of Music preferences for me.
This is described as:

The mac terminal already has one, the copy command.

Hi,
When you insert the CD, Music accesses the CDDB to try to match it. If
successful then all is good.

I used to have a copy of HandBrake, but I only used it once, and when I
migrated to the New Mac, I forgot to copy it over. I do have access to a PC,
though. I wonder if I could create the files on my PC, and then move them to
iCloud.

I thought there was a way to do that, but when I looked for it yesterday, I
didn’t see it. I wonder if they removed it in Big Sur? You used to be abel to
access that when you deleted a track. But when I tried it, my only options
were Delete or Cancel.

Oh, weird. So playlists can actually be that long? I had no idea.
Thanks for these suggestions, Tim. I think I’ll give the only play checked
music a try. That way I can also lose some songs that got imported with albums
that I could do without.

Hi Tim,
as a side question, just how does the music app decide a cd is actually
music?
By which I mean, yoga cds may be a combination of spoken instruction, and
music, sometimes together, but sometimes separately.
So, how does the program decide?

Hi,
You could use the Music app, uncheck the titles in your Library and tell Music
to only play checked songs in Music Prefs. Or, create a playlists that excludes
those titles and play the playlist instead of the library itself.

You could just move it out of the music library.

Hi all,
I have some yoga CDs that I would like to be able to play on my phone or iPad.
Is there some way I can copy these onto my Mac, and access them from my
i-devices without having them included in my Music library? What I’mm trying
to avoid is having them start playing when I’m playing mu
