If you’re talking about FileVault, yes it is possible to use it eyes-free.
Apple has a system of beeps on older Macs and recorded voice prompts on newer

Unfortunately, Daisy Disk is not accessible.
I have already completed the recommended tasks: emptying the trash, and
deleting e-mail messages, but I have not yet moved things to an external disk
