I'm thinking that may be the key, John. I had the phone plugged in prior to
openning Image Capture. Let me try it that way, then I'll let you guys know if
that works.

Oh, now wait a minute here. that's something that I didn't do. I had my phone
plugged in before openning Image Capture. Does that matter?

Are you doing this with the phone connected? I see my phone in the shared
area, I believe. You may want to reboot and try again. I started Image
Capture first and then connected the phone.

Hi Johny Angel,
No I don't know if your scanner is supported, but if you google for the fine
reader express website, made by abbyy, pronounced abbey, you will likely find
it. Do you already have drivers for your scanner so that it works in os10?
Paul.

Hi Paul,
Okay great! I own an Epson 1660 photo scanner that works wonderfully with
OpenBook on a Windows machine. Do you know of a list of scanners supported by
Fine Reader?

Hi Johnny Angel,
The mac can create images from a scanner and from its internal camera. I
suppose you could attach an external camera as well. But if you want OCR, then
the quickest way I have found so far, is to use fine reader express. It is in
the mac app store and it costs 80 euros, I think
Hi all,
I understand that the MBP offers image capturing? Will this feature work as a
usable ocr? If so, willVo read text captured there?
Just curious. If this would work, I'm also wondering if an external camera can
be used with this feature.

Hi everyone:
I'm working with Image Capture, and Abbyy Fine Reader Express. I have what may
be an unfair question for anyone familiar with these. I'm getting the programs
to work together ok, but image capture insists on doing a double scan, and the
entire process takes a lot more t
Hi guys:
I've gotten the drivers for my Cannon scanner. I have image capture
recognizing it. It can make the scanner start, and save to doccuments. But
when I try to open them with Abbyy, they're blank. Any suggestions, other than
a new scanner?:)
TIA and have a great evening.
No sorry as I'm having the same issue. My conclusion is that the printer
scanner is not supported by image capture. It's too bad too.

Hi guys:
Quick question: I'm wanting to try Abbyy fine reader, and downloaded a trial
version without problem. When I run Image Capture, even though the printer
works fine, (a canon Pixma 160) I'm getting a message of "no camera or scanner
connected." Is there anythi
Hi Will,
Glad your scanner is now working. Image Capture will not work with all scanners
though.

hi all for those using OCR like finereader, you don't need
vuscan. Just use image capture in applications and send the resulting file to
the OCR program then after a scan it will autoopen the file and you can convert
to text from there.
It works great with my canon so in
