when I had a phone stolen several years back when I was still in San Francisco
and let’s just say I had my own representative go retrieve the phone rather
than the authorities.;)

Hi. Strangely enough, My phone was erased during the early hours of this
morning by using the Find my iPhone app. I was shocked as no one else had my
password. I was advised to change my password by apple and that is what I have
done.

Yes, you can find it with some restrictions. The iPhone needs to be on and
connected to a network. Putting it in Lost Mode will help to restrict use of
it though as it will, I believe, lock it up as soon as connection is made.
Once you erase the phone, though, I believe that you no longe
interesting , i thought you could find your Iphone with that feature...
