Thank you to those who responded. I did fine a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter
and a USB to Ethernet adapter in the Apple store, both for $30.
Since I do not use displays with any real frequency, I went with the former.

Hi Christine, You can buy an ethernet to thunderbolt adapter from
store.apple.com. I believe its about $30. That will solve your problem
